Microsoft Research, The .NET Show and Shredding
“My phone should know I’m about to leave a meeting, I need to drive to my next appointment and it should bring up the traffic on the highway. Why shouldn’t it? Why shouldn’t my watch? My computer?”
That’s what Rick Rashid, head of Microsoft Research, said in the latest edition of “The .NET show”. Amazing view of the world.
Microsoft Research is close to the largest IT research group in the world. They’re doing some amazing things here. I especially liked the fly-through of the Puget sound.
The .NET show also had a brief interview with Bill Gates. I have to say, the man is starting to look old. Reading about 3 books at a time, no TV and still goes to the movies.
In recent headlines, it turned out the state of New Jersey has been paying for Viagra and giving it to registered sex offenders. Seriously, Medicaid and the sex offenders database, those are two systems I’d be happy to link together with SOA.
The PDC 2005 Agenda has been announced. It should be a cracker this year. Registration begins in June.
In other news: Who knew watching stuff get shredded in an industrial strength machine would be so enthralling but it is. Check it out for yourself.
