How to Pick your MSDN subscriptions level and some Web Junk

14 February 2006 No Comment

MSDN subscriptions have gotten so complicated. Here’s what I have learned.
If you had MSDN Enterprise subscription, the natural upgrade path is to MSDN Enterprise Subscription and you’ll be limited to Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition Developer

If you had MSDN Universal subscription, the natural upgrade path is to MSDN Universal Subscription and you’ll be able to chose between Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition Developer, Architect or Tester edition. Once you’ve chosen you will not be able to change that selection.

If you purchase MSDN Universal Team Suite subscription you’ll get access to VStudio Arch/Dev/Tester and be able to change your selection whenever you like.

Confusing isn’t it?

Last week I ordered a Zalman Heatsink from NewEgg. I got the 3-5 day UPS ground shipping and still the package arrived at my door by 1pm the very next day! Here’s the details behind Newegg’s phenomenal process.
On to the Web Junk:

  • Todd Vanderlin hacked baby!link
  • MSN TV’s are Cheap!!! $0.99 to be exact. link.
  • So cheap that this guy built a cluster of them for small $$$ link. Of course he has no use for the cluster as yet.
  • RFID is going to hack us all link

Lastly, ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer) is 60 years old today, link. ENIAC was not really the first computer but it was the first computer to gain widespread media attention. Did you know the first programmers of ENIAC were six women? hey were Kathleen McNulty Mauchly Antonelli, Jean Jennings Bartik, Frances Snyder Holberton, Marlyn Wescoff Meltzer, Frances Bilas Spence and Ruth Lichterman Teitelbaum. Happy birthday ENIAC!
