Life’s Challenges are out on Highway 61
Oh God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"
Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin’ me on"
God say, "No."
Abe say, "What?"
Great example here from Dylan of the power-struggle between man and God. In the Genesis 22:1, God asked Abraham to kill his son Isaac. Apparently Abe was 137 years old at this point! That seems like a pretty extreme request from a benevolent God and I’m sure Abe must’ve thought he was having a pretty rough week when the request came in.
In a similar but far less extreme manner I feel like 2007 for me is the year when my mental fortitude is being tested. Life’s confronting me at every turn with demands that seem to get ever higher on the "unreasonability" scale. You will always encounter some unexpected bumps in the road but sometimes it doesn’t rain, it pours.
God said "You can do what you want but the
next time you see me you’d better run…."
They didn’t have Star Wars back in Abe’s day but if they did I’m sure he’d refer back to the Trench-Run scene from Episode IV for strength.
Gold Leader: It’s no good down here, I can’t maneuver!
Gold Five: Stay on target.
Gold Leader: We’re too close!
Gold Five: Stay on target!
Of course Dylan says it so much better..
Well Abe says, "Where do you want this killin’ done?"
God says, "Out on Highway 61…."

Amen brother, I love that song. Sometimes though I’ve no idea what you’re talking about
