Stolen Woodgrove and Taking Drugs from Strangers
Woodgrove is a sample application that was developed by a few folks at Microsoft for Mix 2007 to show off the capabilities of WPF in a meaningful business scenario.
This week I was given a presentation by a leading consulting firm (who shall remain nameless). This deck enumerated the firms’ expertise in java centric presentation tier technology, e.g. Adobe Air, Flex, Flash and so on. Sure enough, the backdrop to one of the slides was a screenshot of Woodgrove!
Even more interestingly, the name "Woodgrove" had been REMOVED from the screenshot!!!
I asked them if they’d developed this application. They replied "not sure but quite possible". Now c’mon. I’ve put in my time in the sales cycle. *** Side note: On Monday Sept 10th 2001, I was in the World Trade Center at a sales meeting ***.
You don’t go into a client meeting without knowing your content. You DEFINITELY don’t show a client something you didn’t even build.
Needless to say, this engagement is not off to a good start.
Different topic; I walked into the store in the bottom of our building this morning, looking for Claritin or any kind of allergy medicine as for some reason my allergies are killing me this year. The clerk didn’t have any but a nice lady who was buying something else dug out a Zyrtec from the bottom of her bag.
Thank you Zyrtec lady! (and if you work with me, this is the reason I’ll be drowsy and hence unable to operate machinery the remainder of the day).
