Arvixe > Webhost4life

By the time you read this the site will have moved to a new hosting provider (Arvixe.com).

Webhost4life was a good host for many years but something changed recently. The site was moved to a new platform without warning.

It was ported to new servers, which I’m guessing are virtual. My SSL certificate disappeared in the process. My site worked slower…MUCH slower and was out of service numerous times. Not only that but the configuration changed. The new platform doesn’t support .NET 4.0 or the .NET Wildcard mapping in IIS. Support switched to a “premium” service which had to be paid for. All tickets I opened were answered only after 1-2 hours and even then only with a stock response of “we apologize and your issue has been routed to a specialist”. With service like that I don’t need ‘em.

Here’s hoping Arvixe is better and so far so good.

    Same here Francis !

After migration they screwed up my site and a support request was taking 48 hours to even get a response. I switched to http://www.winhost.com, I signed up for Winhost MAX for 9.99$ has .NET 4 / MVC2 and IIS routing support and 5 MSSQL.

    regards,
    Deleep

Yeah, just looking on the web it seems WH4L was sold and the internet is flooded with folks migrating off of them. Winhost comes up first when you google Webhost4life with the tagline “wh4l migration got you down?”.

Arvixe was really cheap, $5/month for two years, 6 domains, unlimited bandwidth and they support MySQL/PHP aswell as MSSQL. Let’s hope they stay up ;)

    There’s another one http://www.kghosting.com/.

For $100 you get lifetime hosting along with free domain and unlimited mysql db, bandwidth and diskspace. (sorry no windows :) though)

I just got a domain for my wife and they were pretty quick in query resolutions and support.

Let’s see how this behaves over a period of time.
