Despite all the claims that Blu-Ray is winning the format war based on current disc sales, I just bought a Toshiba A20 1080p HD-DVD and DVD up-converting player. That’s where my money is and here’s where my mouth is… Blu-Ray marginalized in 3 years, HD-DVD alive and well.

Great debate has been made over HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray and the issue always comes up that Blu-Ray can store 50GB of data wheras HD-DVD tops out (currently) at 30GB. A 45GB disc is in the works. Regardless, it begs the question, how much data is actually in a high-definition movie to begin with? About a year ago I began thinking of buying a new high-def TV. That triggered a huge home-improvement odyssey.
